How did you get involved in campus life? What advice would you give to students who haven’t yet found their place on campus?
I got involved with campus life by starting a club I wanted to see on campus and through being a part of Res Life. The advice I would give to students who have not found their place on campus is to go to different events to explore their interests and to be open to learning new things. If you do not find what you like, start it, people who enjoy the same will join you.

What is the biggest lesson you have learned when it comes to leadership?
Over time I have learned how to ask for help and advocate for myself and for others. I have learned that most people are willing to help or give you resources, you just need to reach out. People have access to solutions that you don’t know exist and will give you access if they know you need it. Just ask!

What would you say has been your best experience here at WSU?
Living on campus the last few years, I have made numerous memories that are incredibly meaningful. My favorite moments have been in my dorm or out and about where I have been able to have many conversations and build connections. From puzzle nights with my suitemates, to staff meetings with my fellow RAs, positive experiences occur on a daily basis.

What advice would you give to students who are just beginning to explore the type of leader, or the type of person, they hope to become?
Surround yourself with people who you can learn from. You are never going to know it all, hold yourself accountable but also take the time to learn, by forming these relationships you can learn and support each other.

What are your current plans for the next few years?
Surround yourself with people who you can learn from. You are never going to know it all, hold yourself accountable but also take the time to learn, by forming these relationships you can learn and support each other.

Take some time to learn more about Fiber Arts Circle at Worcester State!

Club Name: Fiber Arts Circle
Mission: The purpose of the organization shall be to promote fiber arts, handwork, and similar activities and build a welcoming, caring, and constructive social community on campus facilitated by the fiber arts.
Club Meeting Time: Mondays 2-4pm in room 214 of the Student Center
Contact information/Social Media: X:

Why should students get involved with your organization?
A person with pink hair and a mask sits at a table displaying fiber arts crafts, including knitting, crochet, and needle felting, with informational posters and sample items.Students should get involved with the Fiber Arts Circle if they are looking to join a tight-knit community (pun intended) that can support their creative journey into the fiber arts – whether they have experience or not. Our meetings provide a dedicated space to work on your projects with other fiber artists. These meetings are very low-pressure and drop-in, so feel free to just stop by if you want to access our supplies or have a question about your project.

What types of events and/or programs do you do throughout the year?
Throughout the year we host several events where we teach the basics of certain fiber arts. This year we are doing teaching events for knitting, crochet, needle-felting, and cross-stitch! We are also currently involved in a winter clothing drive with WooServe.

What has been one of the biggest successes of this organization?
One of the biggest successes so far has been the supply drive that we did. We had asked faculty and staff to donate any fiber arts materials (yarn, fabric, knitting needles, etc.) that they had lying around, and boy did they deliver! We were able to fill our club storage closet with these donations that now the entire club has access to. This will allow our club members to have access to many different tools and yarns that they can use for their projects. Some of the most exciting things donated were a sewing kit, wool yarn, and some cording for macrame projects! We are very grateful for all the donations that we received and are amazed at the generosity of the Worcester State community.

What do you think your organization brings to the students at Worcester State?
College can be very stressful and even overwhelming at times, it’s important to have a stress relief activity and to foster your creativity. Getting involved with fiber arts is a great way to fulfill both of these activities, and you get a cool one-of-a-kind handmade item out of it!

How can interested students join your organization?
Show up at one of our meetings or send us an email at fiberartscircle@worcester.edu!

How can the campus community learn more about your programs and events?
Follow us on Instagram at , or send us an email to get on our email list!
