Financial aid is money from the federal and state government, institutions, or private organizations to help students pay for tuition, fees, and living expenses.  It comes in various forms, including grants, scholarships, federal work-study, and loans.  Students at Worcester State apply for financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Many students receive a combination of these different forms of assistance. Currently, 78% of Worcester State students receive some form of aid, with an average annual award of $10,111.

The average federal loan debt upon graduation in 2020 was $29,051.

Because financial aid packages vary based on students’ unique circumstances, Worcester State will assign a financial aid counselor to work with you throughout your academic years at the University. An ongoing relationship with your financial aid counselor will help you with any questions and concerns in a comfortable and supportive environment.  If any financial difficulties arise unexpectedly, be sure to contact the Financial Aid Office to make an appointment with your counselor.

Announcements

The 2026–27 FAFSA form is now available for all students and their contributors. 

Students and families can complete the online FAFSA application at . Once submitted and processed, students can review their FAFSA Submission Summary by logging into their StudentAid.gov Dashboard.

As you file, remember the following:

• Students and contributors (if applicable) should consent to have 2024 federal tax information transferred from the IRS into your FAFSA
• 91´«Ã½â€™s Federal School Code is:  002190
• Returning students must submit a FAFSA each year to be considered for financial aid.
• 91´«Ã½ has the following deadlines:

• • March 1: Fall entry new student priority deadline. Late applications will be considered, though will be subject to the availability of funds.
  • May 1: Fall entry new and returning student deadline for the MassGrant. This is also the returning student on-time deadline for all other aid for the academic year.
  • November 1: Spring entry deadline for on-time consideration
